this page is...
I know I'm not the group leader, but this page is just too amazing!!! Read it and you will figure out why I posted about it. This author really knows how to write a book! On page 206 Billie jo is describing her thoughts "As we walk together, side by side, in the swell of the dust, I am forgiving him, step by step, for the pail of kerosene. As we walk together, side by side, in the sole-deep dust, I am forgiving myself for all the rest." This is the kind of page that makes me lose myself in the book, amazing, really powerful. :)

I agree. It leaves you knowing this is just one step to forgiving herself for that to. It is really weird because it's almost as if the book has two main ideas because throughout the book she has to forgive herself and a part way earthier it says... I don't have my book but I'll try and quote the scene of her funeral. " They didn't say anything about Pa leaving kerosene on the stove just that Billie Joe threw a pail of kerosene." This sparked the stories problem and this a solution but a knew problem has started from the same incident of her moms death, her hands are used as a medophore to show that people are seeing her in a way that she doesn`t want.
ReplyDeleteYes Andre I agree with you, but instead of the funeral sparking the problem I think it sparks the main idea about "forgiving and living on". On page 206 "As we walk together, side by side, in the swell of the dust, I am forgiving him, step by step, for the pail of kerosene. As we walk together, side by side, in the sole-deep dust, I am forgiving myself for all the rest" I think that's a really good ending/conclusion for the book becasue it wraps up all of the main events that happened earlier, the pail of kerosene, the death of ma,Louise's pesence and Billie Jo wanting to escape the dust.
