page 132

I think page 132 is powerful because it relates back to the cover which has a strong message. I find it sort of frustrating that the message on the cover was not clear (until pg. 132).My proof from the book is on page 132 the author wrote ( in Kristi's words) "There's a duck in your fish tank." that and the fact Catherine turns around after Kristi says that and sees " David's rubber duck " makes the message on the cover seem clearer to me because before I wasn't positive that David was the duck on the front cover. Now I am more sure and David is more likely to be represented by his toys than Catherine. I think in a FISH tank a duck is more different than a fish because a a FISH tank is where FISH belong, a duck does not belong in a fish tank but it goes in water. I think that means that david's the duck and he is half in half out of the world.

  1. Interesting Callia,

I think it is really that you point out the difference of a duck in a fish tank and fish in a fish tank. How one stands out as being different? Does David stand out as being different? I always thought the contrast between Jason and David was very powerful in this novel. Why do you think this is important?

    Thanks for this great blog!

  2. I thought that David was the duck all along. He is different from everybody else. I think he is trying really hard to get under the water but he can't because rubber ducks FLOAT. I also think that if the world was a fish tank and David is a duck he is not the only one. There are a lot of people that have autism but they are far away from where Catherine and David are.

    Awesome post Callie!
